  • Thomas Paine predicts America’s fate in 2009?

If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute.

Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791

  • Why weren’t we taught to read Thomas Paine in school, or for that matter any of the Founding Fathers?

Maybe the so-called failure of the public schools is actually a success in the eyes of the government. Where else could failure justify more power and money?

I couldn’t agree with you more, David. I dated a woman who grew up in Romania. She was very in tune with Communist tactics and saw many, many things in our society that have been insidiously slipped in under our noses. The fundamental aim of Marxism is to undermine: religion, morality and the nuclear family. It is clear that these three pillars of a healthy society have been under assault for decades. We often think it started in the ’50’s, but looking back to the turn of the 20th century, this movement was in full swing even then.

Bottom line: an uneducated mind is a pliable mind. Thus, the school systems have been set up to fail in order to create a class of easily malleable youth. I believe Glenn Beck has pretty much nailed it on the head regarding the way educators have created a culture of entitlement amongst the younger generations. Everyone is a winner. There are no losers. This, of course, is not based in reality and does not represent the nature of the world we live in.
