Full Text of Mitch McConnell speech:

“For anybody who’s been reading the news the past few days, it’s probably felt a little like Groundhog Day. Because, over the last couple of days, leading Democrats have tried to grab onto yet another poorly-sourced, thinly-reported, unsubstantiated allegation against Justice Brett Kavanaugh. There they go again. Call it a one-year anniversary re-enactment. Senate Democrats re-opening the sad and embarrassing chapter they wrote last September.

  • Ms. Monopoly’s ‘Woke’ Rules Are Bad for Girls, Devalue Women

I have three girls and three boys. Some of them have recently gotten into Monopoly, the classic board game.

But my kids won’t be playing Hasbro’s new version, Ms. Monopoly, which gives women 20% more than men when they pass go.

As an economist, I love classic Monopoly and its real-world financial lessons.

As a person, I like the message conveyed by the new Ms. Monopoly cover — that young, hip women can be as successful, if not more, than old white men in stuffy suits and top hats.

The problem is what’s inside the box.

Ms. Monopoly’s unequal rules not only distort real-world realities; they would surely incite conflict between my boys and girls.… Read More...

  • Why Strong Intellectual Property Laws Abroad Require a Strong US Example

China has failed to respect intellectual property rights for decades, and U.S. businesses have suffered. Thankfully, those companies are getting help from the Trump administration.

In late 2017, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other leading business advocates asked the Trump administration to elevate the issue of trade secret protections in trade talks with other nations. They wrote that trade secret theft puts “thousands of high-paying jobs in the United States at risk, while also posing potential national security threats.”

  • Odd Allies Are Coming Together to Defend Free Speech

It’s amazing to see who comes to the defense of freedom when you least expect it.

In July, 12 leading philosophy scholars from around the world signed on to a statement supporting freedom of thought and speech in academia, specifically as those freedoms are being undercut by gender identity ideology.

These scholars warned of a dangerous movement within academia to sanction and silence people who express support for a biologically based understanding of gender and sexuality. All 12 philosophers denounced this trend and called for a restoration of academic freedom.
