    With Barack Obama, we have seen the most cynical U.S. Presidency in history. He has disparaged the people of this great nation, created unprecedented contempt among the citizenry in what could loosely be considered a post-racial era, and denigrated the office of the presidency by ushering in Chicago-style thug politics into the highest office in the land.   • Martin Luther King Jr.’s Dream Was the Same As the Founders’

    So many wish to judge the United States of America for what it is rather than what it is intended to be. If we all strive toward the noble vision espoused by the Founding Fathers and enumerated in the Declaration of Independence, we will achieve the dream they and countless others including Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned.

  • Charity & Government

    The Left / Right paradigm doesn’t inform the views of Christians on charity and other “Christian” values. It merely defines the mechanism by which we believe these values are to be engaged. Only the bible has the ability to define how we should view and participate in charity. For instance, do we, as Christians, believe that we were given a mandate by Christ to feed the hungry and clothe the poor or is this something we should callously delegate through government? If your answers leans toward the latter statement, what sort of evidence is there in scripture to back up this claim? But, more importantly, how does the bible demonstrate the fulfillment of this critical human benevolence? READ MORE...

  • On Racism

    My definition of a “racist” is anyone who uses the issue of race to further one’s cause and/or to cast dispersions on others based on no substantive evidence. The antithesis of racism is to disregard every aspect of one’s race and SOLELY judge that person on the content of his or her character. THIS is what Martin Luther King, Jr. promoted.

    We should judge people according to their thoughts and ideas, not the color of their skin. If your conversation and ideology always involves the concept of race, I contend that you are racist and that you are incapable of providing to others that which you ask of them. READ MORE...

  • America’s Innocence Lost

    Bear with me while I tell a story. On NBC’s action spy comedy, “Chuck” (airing Mondays at 8:00 p.m. EST), the two main characters are in conflict. Sara, the seasoned veteran spy, is the handler for newbie Chuck, an everyday nerd who was thrust into the spy game due to the accidental download of a computer program into his brain containing top government secrets. Sara and Chuck are in love, but the job presents obstacles which continually make their relationship improbable, if not impossible. Sara is attracted to Chuck because she sees in him an innocence she willingly surrendered. She fell in love because he possesses a quality she so deeply desires for herself. In Chuck, Sara is able to find hope for a future she so callously tossed away. Chuck, however, is increasingly placed in situations which force him to compromise his innocence in pursuit of a life completely foreign to him. In the midst of the chaos he struggles to determine who he really is and what he really stands for. As Chuck continues to pursue this life, Sara becomes increasingly disenchanted as she sees him changing into a man who scantly resembles the man she originally fell in love with. She begins to wonder if the Chuck she loved and admired is lost forever, and if she’ll ever be able to reclaim the person she once was.   • Letter to Congressman Gordon of TN re: Health Care Reform

    Representative Gordon,

    I am very political by nature, but this is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to contact my Congressman regarding an issue. The current health care bill being considered on Capitol Hill is an assault on freedom and the foundational principles upon which this great nation was built. In fact, I believe it is fundamentally unconstitutional. My family arrived from England in 1648 and has fought for our freedom for many generations. I am prepared to do the same. Therefore, I humbly request that you PLEASE reconsider your position. I am not against health care reform. In fact, I support the idea in concept. But I AM against a bill which undermines our basic American values and advances this unprecedented power grab by the Federal Government. Regardless of what you THINK, the polls speak for themselves. An overwhelming majority of the people DO NOT WANT THIS BILL! Have you not been placed in office to do the will of the people? Don’t pretend that you know better than us. Let’s start over and find REAL solutions for the health care crisis. Let’s take steps that will actually reduce costs without infringing upon the natural rights granted each and every person by God. Let’s find solutions that won’t destroy small business. Health care reform is a noble cause, so I applaud you for your desire to reform an imperfect system. But the current bill is simply a travesty and a farce that is being jammed down our throats. Quite frankly, we’re tired of the shell game being perpetrated upon the American people by the Obama Administration. Do not allow yourself to be deceived by this sleight of hand as well. The progressive nature of the laws resultant from this heretical bill will destroy the best things about our current health care system and increasingly place the American people under the thumb of big government.   • If We Are To Err…

    It seems many misinterpret the true intentions of the Founders. Religion and personal faith can no more be separated from a person and the way they interact with the world than an egg yolk from the egg white. No matter how hard you try, some egg white will remain. Religious views (or a lack thereof) shape our values. The Founders simply wanted to ensure the government wasn’t in the business of establishing a national church similar to what had occurred throughout Europe for centuries. Contrary to what has become a mainstream but incorrect belief, the Founders consciously allowed religion to be interwoven into the fabric of government. Even to this day, each session of Congress is begun with a prayer. It is true we are not a “Christian nation”, but Judeo-Christian principles are, indeed, the rock upon which this Republic stands.
