• Why Student Loans Are Not A Crisis And Certainly Don't Deserve A Bailout

Why Student Loans Are Not A Crisis And Certainly Don’t Deserve A Bailout

A whole new cohort of college freshmen is starting classes, adding to an ever-increasing number of students who borrow to pay for college. If past statistics are any indication, three-quarters of these students will leave college with debt.

Student loan growth has outpaced the value of credit card debt, home equity loans, and even auto loans. Altogether, about 44 million American student borrowers currently hold a shocking $1.48 trillion in student debt.

Some claim, like Sen. Bernie Sanders, that national politicians urgently need to address this problem. They bid us understand this cumulative debt as a “crisis” and opinion pieces regularly tow the narrative that monthly student loan payments are “crushing,” squeezing budgets and inhibiting larger purchases, such as homes. • The States Determine Qualifications for Voting and Procedures for Registration, and only Citizens may Vote

The States Determine Qualifications for Voting and Procedures for Registration, and only Citizens may Vote

    1. Summary

The federal government is usurping the powers of the States, expressly retained by Art. I, §2, cl. 1, US Constitution, to determine qualifications for voting.  And by perverting Art. I, §4, cl. 1, it is also usurping the States’ reserved power to determine procedures for registration of voters.

Consistent with Principles of Republican Government, every State in this Union has restricted voting to Citizens. 1 But on October 26, 2010 in Gonzales v. Arizona, a three judge panel on the US Circuit Court of Appeals (9th Cir.) construed the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) and asserted that Arizona has no right to require applicants for voter registration to provide proof of citizenship.  I wrote about it at the time HERE. On rehearing, the en banc Court of Appeals agreed with the panel; and on June 17, 2013, in Arizona v. The Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc., the Supreme Court affirmed. READ MORE...

  • Socialism Is An Attempt To Address A Spiritual Problem With Politics

Socialism Is An Attempt To Address A Spiritual Problem With Politics

As I compose this, a miracle is happening around me. I am flying back to Missouri after a week in my native Pacific Northwest. This is a round-trip Oregon Trail, without the deaths from dysentery, cholera, snakebite, or drowning while fording a river.

This direct flight from Portland to St. Louis takes less than four hours to travel 2,000 miles, for a price of just under $200. It is an affordable miracle (slightly less-affordable but more luxurious options are also available), and even the basic options are marvelous. Step into a climate-controlled metal tube filled with seats, settle in, and a few hours later step out thousands of miles away. Emperors, priests, and god-kings never had it so good. Julius Caesar travelled at the speed and with the smell of horse. READ MORE...

The News Media Bet On Trump Emboldening White Supremacy And Lost

I’ve spent most of my adult life producing theater in New York City. In that time, on more occasions than I care to remember, only 20 people showed up in the audience when I’d hoped for hundreds. I thought of that with a smile yesterday watching the maybe two dozen sad white nationalists hold their “rally” in Washington. I know how bad that feels, the Public Address system and stage you paid for mocking you.

Jason Kessler and his gang more than deserved it, but you can see why they assumed they were going to sell out. The going narrative in our newspapers and cable news shows is that the Trump presidency has emboldened white supremacists, that they are no longer ashamed. After all, the president is winking at them. There were probably 20 journalists for every white nationalist at yesterday’s event precisely because the news media was testing its hypothesis. Conservative Combat Vet Seeks GOP Senate Nomination In Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. — The outcome of a hotly-contested “insider versus outsider” Republican primary in Wisconsin could potentially decide which party holds the Senate after November.

The outsider is Kevin Nicholson — a young, decorated veteran-turned-businessman who walked away from the Democratic Party during his service in the U.S. Marine Corps. The insider is state lawmaker Leah Vukmir — a nurse-turned politician with almost sixteen years in the Wisconsin legislature. The winner of Tuesday’s primary will face incumbent Sen. Tammy Baldwin in what Democrats are treating as a vulnerable seat this year. Baldwin has a large war chest, but her attempt to moderate away from her hyper-liberal, Madison-centric former congressional district has been marred by several controversies that offer the eventual GOP opponent plenty of ammunition. Investigative Journalist Laura Loomer Gets Removed From Facebook For Questioning Minnesota Muslim Congressional Candidates

With a growing number of Muslims running for political office every year and considering that the ideology of Islam is diametrically opposed to the foundations of the united States of America, any thinking person would be rightly concerned about any follower of Muhammad having any position of authority in our society.  This is the case with investigative journalist Laura Loomer, whose Facebook page was removed simply because she questioned a congressional candidate for Congress from Minnesota who just so happened to be a Muslim. • ‘Make Obama President Again’ hits TV

‘Make Obama President Again’ hits TV

It’s no secret that TV and movie producers of often embed subtle messages somewhere into their storylines, but one that aired Sunday night on HBO was not so subtle.

In the season premiere of “Ballers,” a character named TTD played by Carl McDowell is shown pulling up to an opulent home in a red Ferrari.

As he expresses his amazement at how extravagant the dwelling is, he is sporting a T-shirt that declares in large block letters, “Make Obama President Again.”

President Donald Trump, of course, has made a cottage industry of T-shirts and hats with his 2016 campaign slogan of “Make America Great Again.” READ MORE...
